Green Schools

Coláiste Cholmcille has an active and dedicated Green-Schools committee that has worked tirelessly over the past eight years to reduce the school’s carbon footprint. Through their commitment, the committee has earned three Green Flag awards from An Taisce for achievements in the areas of:

  • Litter & Waste
  • Water
  • Travel & Transport

The team is now focusing on earning their fourth flag, which promotes awareness and action in the area of Energy conservation.

In partnership with Donegal County Council and the local community, Coláiste Cholmcille continues to strive toward making the school a more sustainable and environmentally conscious place. We acknowledge our shared responsibility to protect and preserve the environment for future generations.

The Green-Schools programme empowers students to take ownership of environmental challenges and make a meaningful difference within their school and local community. Participation in the committee helps students develop confidence, problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
