Summer Programme
As part of our DEIS status, we run a school summer programme. This means we have 2 weeks during the summer, offering summer camps for students completely free of charge.
Week One runs in June and is aimed at existing students, while Week Two runs in August and primarily allows new 1st Year students to attend and get used to their new classmates and indeed the school and staff.
In a DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) school in Ireland, a Summer Programme is an educational initiative run during the summer holidays to support students’ learning, wellbeing, and engagement.
It is designed for students who may benefit from additional educational support, including those at risk of educational disadvantage, students with special educational needs (SEN), or those from socially or economically disadvantaged backgrounds. But any student is welcome to apply to attend.
The programme typically includes a mix of academic activities (such as literacy, numeracy, and language support) and enrichment activities (like art, sport, music, or field trips). The aim is to help students retain and build on skills learned during the school year, boost confidence and social interaction, and ease their transition into the next school year.
In short, the DEIS Summer Programme provides a fun, supportive, and structured learning environment that helps reduce learning loss over the holidays and strengthens inclusion and equality in education.
