U16 Girls Gaelic vs Glenties – Pics
The Girls U16 team were up against a strong Glenties team on Monday the 23rd of October. The captain for the day, Andrea Moore opted to go against the wind in the first half in the hope they would keep a low score. Glenties took full advantage and rarely missed a shot. Coláiste Cholmcille worked hard in defence and connected well with midfield, but the last pass let us down and we struggled to get on the score board. Jessica O’Mahoney did an excellent job at man marking one of Glenties key players, both players battled it out for the majority of the game. Finally after 20 minutes, Niamh Duffy side stepped around her player with her signature dummy and squeezed in a goal pass the Glenties goalie. Half time score was 1:1 to 4:8. Coláiste Cholmcille started off the second half at pace and the support play was brilliant to watch. This led to three more goals for our CCBS side and reducing Glenties lead. Tara Aine Gallagher had some excellent saves and delivered pin point passes to her wing backs to set up a quick attack. Sadly, scores win games and we failed to match the Glenties score line with the wind in the second half. The final score was 4:5 to 5:10. Well done to all the girls involved, it was great to see some parents at the game in Ballyshannon. All support is much appreciated. The girls next game will be against AVS Donegal on Wednesday the 8th of November at 10:30am in Donegal.
