Senior Girls Gaelic
On the 17th of October, our Senior Girls Gaelic Football Team showed off their new Lidl jerseys, won last year through the Lidl Plus competition, in a full-day blitz at St Eunan’s pitch. The tournament was to determine their place in the quarter-final stages (cup, shield, or plate). The team faced off against three strong opponents: Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair, Coláiste na Carraige, and Gairnscoil Chu Uladh.

Game 1: CCBS vs Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair
In their opening match against a strong Gweedore team, the CCBS girls made a quick start, with Katie McMahon scoring two early goals, putting the team ahead 2 goals to 1 point at halftime. Gweedore threatened with some close attempts, but some great defensive work from Emer McDevitt and Katie McGowan kept them at bay. The final score was 2:4 to 0:3, with contributions from Andrea Moore (0:1), Grace McNeilis Lee (0:1), Katie McMahon (2:1), and Orlaith Gallagher (0:1).

Game 2: CCBS vs Gairnscoil Chu Uladh
The second game saw CCBS dominate against Gairnscoil Chu Uladh from Ballinamore. Taking advantage of the wind, the team scored 1:7 to 0:0 by halftime, with Roisin Williams notching an impressive 1:3. Everyone on the panel got valuable game time, and CCBS wrapped up a comfortable win with a final score of 3:8 to 0:1.

Game 3: CCBS vs Coláiste na Carraige
In the final match of the day, CCBS faced their toughest challenge against Coláiste na Carraige, who had also won all their games. Both teams showed great skills and game management. CCBS scored the first goal, but Carraige responded with a point. By halftime, the game was tied at 1:1. The second half remained tense, with CCBS edging ahead with a goal, only for Carraige to reply with a point and another goal. In the dying minutes, CCBS secured the victory with a final goal, and their defence held strong to win 3:2 to 2:2.
It was a strong performance from the team, who now advance to the cup competition as overall winners of their group. Well done to all involved!
