The U16 girls had their 3rd group game on Wednesday vs the neighbouring AVS Donegal. Coláiste Cholmcille needed to get off to a good start and get scores on the board but the cross field wind was resulting in a lot of balls dropping short or drifting wide of the post.

AVS in the their home grounds, were quick to the mark and slotted over some early scores. The CCBS girls were busy in defence with Katie McGowan and Zakia Shyabo sweeping up a lot of loose ball in front of goal. Ciara Larkin, Andrea Moore and Aoife Travers worked hard in the middle of the field but we struggled to finish against their tight defence.

Half time score was 3:5 to 1:2.

The girls opened up the game more in the second half and worked some great scores from the kick out, with Cadhla Dolan kicking some of the scores. It was great to see some of the younger players coming on as subs and making an impact on the game. On the other side, AVS were quick to move the ball down the field and it was score for score in the second half.

AVS won on a score line of 5:10 to 2:5 and this puts them top of the group. Our U16 have their last group game in the next few weeks.

Well done to all involved and we look forward to the last game of the group stages.
