All Ireland Track and Field – Pics
Windy conditions did not deter our three All-Ireland finalists in Tullamore last weekend as they competed in the Irish Life Schools Track and Field Championships. Excellent finishes from Lucy McGlynn (100m hurdles and 400m hurdles), Dáire McDevitt ( Triple Jump), and Emer O’Brien (Steeple Chase) who took time out from her LC studies to travel to Tullamore on Saturday. Huge congratulations to Lucy McGlynn who took home two gold medals in both her hurdle events. Lucy is having an outstanding season to date. Windy conditions dominated the senior girls 400m hurdles. Despite this, Lucy was first over the line on a time of 62.61 secs. Later on Lucy smashed the 100m hurdle Donegal record on a time of 14.35 secs. Delighted with her double gold and new PB Lucy will continue to compete during the summer months with her club Tír Conaill AC and we wish her all the success she so truly deserves.
Congratulations to Dáire McDevitt who has been selected to take part in the Ulster Schools Interprovincial team on June 24th in Tullamore. Dáire will compete in both Long Jump and Triple Jump. At this particular event Dáire will be competing against top athletes from all other provinces. The top two performances in each event will gain qualification for the Irish schools International team. Well done Dáire on your selection and we wish you all the best for this remarkable event.
Congratulations to all our wonderful athletes who have competed in school athletics events throughout the year. We look forward to getting back to more events in the autumn.
