Crois Bhríde- Pics
5th year students kept the “Crois Bhríde” tradition alive today as they learned how to make beautiful St Bridget’s crosses. The 31st of January was traditionally the last day of Winter in the pagan Celtic calendar and from Christian times the night before St Bridget’s Day (1st February- the first day of Spring). The crosses were hung in houses and barns to invoke the help of St Bridget in warding off illness. These and other items such as a scarf or piece of material can be left outside tomorrow night. St Bridget will bless them as she passes through Ireland. Thanks to Teresa, Ms Toolin and Ms Oates for their help in making the crosses. Míle buíochas to Joey and Robert for supplying the rushes.
