CSPE class with Michael Healy-Rae- Pics
3.5 CSPE class held a live teams call with TD Michael Healy Rae this morning. All of our third year students are currently learning about Dáil Éireann in CSPE. Joey Daly and Shay Cleary emailed Micheal Healy Rae and invited him to join our class for a question and answers session on his role as a sitting TD, which he kindly accepted.
The class researched Mr Rae’s back ground and political careers and developed a number of questions which they asked him today. The take away points for the class were;
1. Our time is more valuable than money
2. Get up every day and do something that you love. Learning difficulties may make school life more challenging at times but find something that you love to do and you will never work a day in your life.
3. The government need to readdress the new proposed railway line for many people including those of us living in South Donegal.
4. Buying an investment property in Ireland now doesn’t wash its face. In other words, it doesn’t earn enough income to cover its cost.
5. Mr Rae has been selected as chair of a special Oireachtas committee to look into Euthanasia in this country. This is a topic which is explored in 5th year RE. It is hoped that our students will one day vote on the legalisation of this topic in a referendum in the near future.
Many thanks to Mr Rae for joining us this morning. The call was recorded and will be shared with our other third year students as part of this unit of learning in CSPE.
