Erasmus Slovakia Day 4- Pics
Today was the grand finale of the week – a full Olympic programme. It began with a wonderful opening ceremony encapsulating European and Olympic values, as well as Slovakian culture. We were treated to both the European and Olympic anthems to begin with a marvellous flagraising ceremony.
This was followed by a range of Slovakian singing, dancing and even a wonderful comedy act. There were role plays focused on ke y aspects of Slovakian Christmas and Easter traditions
Once that was complete, it wasinto their mixed nationality groups, all sporting their tie-dyed and bleached t-shirts from yesterday, for a range of sporting challenges. The activitiescovered aspects of: hockey, basketball, table tennis, communication and problem solving, gymnastics, strength challenges andcoordination.
The afternoon began with a session reflecting on the week and exploring what students really enjoyed and what benefits they had from the week.
We then all returned for the closing ceremony. Students were presented with their medals that they produced in a 3D printer earlier that week. More Slovakian dance, music and comedy followed, including a performance from world champion traditional dancers. Quite the sight and sound.
Then the after party started with a range of homemade Slovakian treats on offer and some final farewells and lots of see y ousoons were said to new friends.
It marks the end of CCBS’s first Erasmus trip and is something that all involved will remember for a long time.
