Irish Guide Dogs Visit- Pics
Our students recently learned about the amazing work of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. Puppy raisers care for dogs from 9 weeks to 14 months before they begin specialist training in Cork. It costs around €53,000 to train a guide dog.
Students also learned how these dogs support people with visual impairments and autism, helping provide independence and social connection.
A key message was to always ask “How can I help?” and remember that when a guide dog is wearing its harness, it is working and should not be approached without asking permission first.
Thank you to Irish Guide Dogs, the Puppy Raisers and of course, the wonderful dogs who took the time to visit our school.
