Letter to Parents

LETTER FROM C. FAGAN TO PARENTS IN RELATION TO COVID19

March 18 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to share with you the plans that are in place in Coláiste Cholmcille as a result of the school closures by Covid-19. To date we have been following the HSE advice as given to us by the Department of Education and Skills. We have shared and continue to share this evolving advice with you via text, social media and on our website.

The staff at Coláiste Cholmcille have been preparing for the possibility of a school closure for the last few weeks. All students and teachers have a school email address. The school is using Office 365 as a means to communicate with pupils and this can be accessed remotely by the App on their phone or by a laptop/computer (please log into Office 365 through the link on our school website, www.ccbs.ie, or at login.microsoftonline.com).

If you encounter any difficulties accessing this please contact us on info@ccbs.ie. Please continue to follow our website and social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter) for regular updates.

All students have been advised to bring home the necessary books and notes thus enabling study and schoolwork to be done from home. Most school texts are available as e-books.

We expect teachers to be in contact with students, setting and collecting work remotely. We would ask that school hours be respected in these communications. Priority will be given to exam students in exam years. It is my understanding that the State Exams Commission are putting a contingency plan in place for the Orals and other State Exams related projects. As soon as we receive information on this, we will let you know.

Communication will be by text, through our website and through our social media accounts. Please make sure we have your current text number. Contact us on info@ccbs.ie if you need to make any changes to this.

At this stage, schools are due to reopen on Monday, 30th March. I would ask that you keep in your thoughts those who have been directly affected by the Coronavirus Covid-19. We will also keep those healthcare workers who are managing the illness in our thoughts and prayers.

Yours sincerely,

C. Fagan
